Hello family and friends,
New Goal: One of my New Year's resolutions is to stay better connected to my friends and family, so I've decided to send out a monthly Newsletter. I have a friend in Japan right now, who has inspired this idea. If I'm sending this to anyone who doesn't want it- simply let me know or just never respond back and I'll get the hint :) I'll try and keep these Newsletters brief and to the point.
First of all, I hope you are all doing well and that life is treating you kindly.
Christmas: My Christmas break was enjoyable, as usual. I was in sunny Arizona where the average temperature stayed closely in the upper 70s, even early 80s. I loved it!
Bloomington life: Being back in Bloomington is great! Even though the weather is less than desirable, I feel truly blessed to associate with many aspiring individuals. I love serving in my calling at church as the president of of women's organization called the Relief Society, and my friends and professors are wonderful out here.
Opera: Currently, I'm rehearsing for an opera I'm in called Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) by Mozart. My character is a 14 yr-old boy named, Cherubino. He is such a funny character, and although some people may think it's weird that a female is playing a male part, it's been a wonderful experience so far and I have fallen in love with this adorable, yet mischievous character all over again. The show runs the last two weekends of February, and I'm ecstatic that my parents are flying out to see it!

School: As far as school work goes, my load is pretty light this semester which is such a contrast to last semester. I am privileged to be taking a class from the famous spinto soprano, Carol Vaness who has had a professional place on the opera and recital stage for 30 years. It has been incredible to work with someone who has sung with all the big names and knows the business so well. She has been very encouraging and insightful, and I look forward to performing as part of an opera scene she is directing- which is the Flower duet from Lakme.
Summer 2008: This summer I am privileged to be a Young American Artist with Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, NY. This program can sort of by compared to an internship. I will be covering the role of Giulio Cesare (Julius Cesar) in the opera Giulio Cesare by Handel, as well as give a 35min solo recital as well as the main stage soloist for Mendelssohn's oratorio A Midsummer' Night's Dream. In this program I will have the privilege of working with professional conductors and directors as well as participate in various Masterclasses, receive frequent coachings, and audition for some of the nations biggest opera houses. This will be an unforgettable experience for sure. My only problem is waiting until May to start! :)
Thank you for all your love and support. May God bless you and keep you all! Take care and feel free to keep me updated on your lives!
Much love,
Angela Brower
